# Impactio Meridian > Impactio Meridian (meridian.impactio.com) is a Magellan Global brand that gives scientific ideas and the people behind them a wider audience. It interviews the authors, usually the first author, of papers accepted at leading AI conferences (ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, AAAI, IJCAI, KDD, SIGIR, COLM) in long-form video conversations recorded in Singapore, fifteen-minute paper Briefs, and a weekly newsletter, Meridian Notes. It begins as an Impactio initiative with research support from MTRI, Magellan Global's research institute in Tokyo and Singapore. Reviewed 26 October 2026. Key facts: - Guests are chosen editorially from accepted papers using public signals (orals, spotlights, awards, released code and data) and a reading by researchers. No one can pay to appear; no appearance fees are paid; sponsors have no say in guests, questions or edits. - Transcripts separate three things, each labelled: the author's view, the paper's documented finding (linked to its table or section), and Meridian's interpretation. - An appearance is not an academic endorsement. Sponsorship, travel costs covered and related-party relationships (MTRI, Impactio, magellon) are disclosed where they appear. - Singapore Sessions: authors are invited to Singapore for a recording, a Brief and an optional public seminar at MTRI's Singapore office in One-north. - Season one (2027) covers twelve themes; guests are announced on release, not before. - Revenue: disclosed sponsorship, Meridian Pro (indicative US$29/month) and Research Desk for teams, events, licensing, and an opt-in talent bridge run with magellon. How to cite: cite the paper for findings; cite Meridian for what the author said ("Author, in conversation with Impactio Meridian, date, timestamp"). ## Pages - [Conversations with the authors of AI's leading papers](https://meridian.impactio.com/): Impactio Meridian, a Magellan Global brand: long-form conversations with the authors of the year's leading AI conference papers (ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR), recorded in Singapore, with every claim linked to the paper. - A Magellan Global brand that interviews the authors of top AI conference papers, at ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR and other venues, in long-form conversations, short paper briefs and a weekly newsletter. It begins as an Impactio initiative, with research support from MTRI. Who are the guests? Authors of papers accepted at the leading AI conferences, chosen by the editors for the substance of the work. Selection uses public signals (orals, spotlights, awards, released code and data) and a reading by researchers; it is never for sale. Where is it recorded? In Singapore, where Magellan Global is headquartered and where MTRI has an office at One-north, and at the major conferences. Some conversations are recorded remotely. Is an interview an endorsement? No. An appearance on Meridian is not an academic endorsement of the paper, the author or their institution. We separate what the author says, what the paper shows and what we think, and label each. How does Meridian make money? Disclosed sponsorship, Meridian Pro subscriptions and the Research Desk for teams, live events and licensing. None of these buys an appearance or editorial input. A Magellan Global brand ## Impactio, MTRI and Magellan Global Meridian begins as an Impactio initiative. Impactio helps researchers show the impact of their work; Meridian gives that work a wider audience. MTRI, the group’s research institute in Tokyo and Singapore, reads the papers with us and keeps the questions technical. Magellan Global, headquartered in Singapore, is the group behind both. magellanglobal.com · About Meridian · Related-party disclosures ## Get Meridian Notes every week Five minutes, every Friday: the papers that mattered and why, each linked to the source. Video and audio, with a full transcript linked to the paper. Season one Subscribe ## Why authors The most-listened technology shows interview the people who run companies and fund them. That is valuable, and it is not the same thing as hearing from the researcher who built the result. Meridian is for that conversation. The work, not the reputation We choose papers, then invite their authors. A first-year PhD student with an oral paper outranks a famous name with a minor one. Technical, and still listenable Questions are prepared with researchers who have read the paper. Explanations are for an informed listener, not a specialist only. Checked against the paper Every finding mentioned is linked to the table, figure or section that supports it. Asia in the frame Recorded in Singapore, with a deliberate share of authors from labs across Asia, whose work is under-heard in English-language media. The failures too Every episode asks what did not work. Negative results rarely make the paper; they are often the most useful part of the conversation. Built to last Episodes are organised by venue, year and theme, so the archive becomes a reference to the field, not a feed. ## Season one Twelve themes from this year’s programme. A neutral room Away from the conference rush: time to think, prepare and say it properly. ## Sources - ICLR 2025 dates and venue - AAAI-26 at Singapore EXPO - Immigration & Checkpoints Authority - MTRI Reviewed 26 October 2026. Rules and fees change; confirm with the authority before relying on them. ## Public seminars Most Session evenings include a talk by the visiting author, free to attend, at MTRI’s Singapore office. Hosts may support an evening; they are named, and the talk is the author’s. Events Get seminar announcements --- # For authors URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/for-authors/ For authors ## Your paper, explained by you, to the people who should read it. If you are an author of a paper accepted at a leading AI venue, Meridian can give it a wider audience: a long-form Conversation, a fifteen-minute Brief with your figures, and a place in the archive organised by venue and theme. Apply or nominate Selection method ## What an appearance involves - ## Invitation or application Editors invite authors through the selection method; you can also apply, or a colleague can nominate you. - ## Consent and release A plain-language agreement: what we record, where it is published, your right to review for accuracy, and your rights to your figures. Nothing is announced before you sign. - ## Preparation call Thirty minutes with the host and an MTRI researcher who has read your paper. - ## Recording In Singapore, at a conference or remotely. - ## Your review You see the edit and correct anything inaccurate about your work. - ## Release and after We link your paper, code and data, and your Impactio profile if you have one. Corrections are logged. ## What you can count on No pay-to-appear, ever And no appearance fees, so that no one appears for money. Accuracy review You check the technical accuracy of the edit before release. Your figures stay yours You grant a licence to show them; you keep the rights. Nothing confidential We do not ask about unpublished work, work under review or your employer’s confidential projects. Disclosure Travel costs we cover, sponsors and any Magellan Global relationship are disclosed in the episode. Not an endorsement We say clearly that an interview is not an academic endorsement, of you or of us. ## Questions authors ask Do I have to pay to appear? No, never. No one can pay to appear on Meridian, and sponsors have no say in who appears. If anyone offers you a paid appearance in Meridian's name, tell us. Do you pay guests? We do not pay appearance fees, so that no one appears for the money. For Singapore Sessions we cover return travel, up to three nights' accommodation and local transport, and we say so in the episode notes. Can I see the episode before it goes out? Yes. You review the edit for technical accuracy and can correct anything you said about your work. You cannot remove a fair question or the answer you gave to it; if we disagree, we talk it through, and corrections are published. I am a PhD student. Is that too junior? No. The first author is usually the person who ran the experiments, and that is who we want. Many guests will be students or early-career researchers. My co-author is better known. Should they come instead? We usually ask the first author, and a senior co-author can join if the first author wants. The episode is about the work, not the reputation. What about my employer's communications policy? We send a one-page brief you can share with your communications or legal team before you agree, and we do not ask about unpublished work, confidential projects or anything under review. Can I bring slides or a demo? Yes. Briefs are built around your own figures, and you keep all rights to them. Live demos are welcome in Singapore Sessions. --- # How guests are chosen URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/selection/ How guests are chosen ## Papers first. Then the people who wrote them. Selection is editorial and never for sale. Public signals narrow the field, researchers read the shortlist, and editors choose a season balanced across topics, regions, institutions and career stages. Accepted papers All main-track papers at the venues we follow, from official proceedings, OpenReview and the ACL Anthology. Public signals Oral or spotlight, awards, released code and data, early follow-on work, and the author’s Impactio profile where public. Read by researchers MTRI and Impactio researchers read the shortlist and score substance: novelty, evidence, clarity, honesty about limits. Chosen by editors The editorial board picks for the season, balancing topic, region, institution and career stage. Invited First author first. Consent in writing before anything is announced. ## Signals we use, and how much they count Signal Why Weight Oral, spotlight or award The programme committee’s own judgement High Researchers’ reading Substance, not fame; catches overlooked work Highest: it can overrule the rest Released code and data Others can check and build on it Medium Early follow-on work The field is already using it Medium, with a lag Social media attention Easy to game, often about the lab not the paper Not used The author’s seniority or fame The opposite of what Meridian is for Not used ## Balance across a season - At least a third of guests from institutions in Asia, and no more than two from any one institution - At least half of guests are first authors who are students or early-career researchers - No more than one guest in twelve from MTRI or another Magellan Global company, always disclosed - Every theme in the season covered by at least one venue outside the largest three These are targets the editors report against at the end of each season, published on this page. ## Who cannot influence selection - Sponsors and partners, including Magellan Global companies acting as sponsors. - Meridian Pro and Research Desk subscribers. - Anyone offering payment, travel or other benefit to Meridian in return for an appearance. --- # Editorial standards URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/editorial-standards/ Editorial standards ## Say who is speaking, and how they know. Meridian gives scientific ideas and the people behind them a wider audience. That only works if listeners can tell an author’s view from what the paper shows, and both from what we think. ## Three labels View What the author thinks Opinions, intuitions, predictions and recollections. Valuable, and not evidence. Finding What the paper shows A result documented in the paper, linked to the table, figure or section. If the paper does not show it, it is not a finding. Interpretation What we think Meridian’s own reading: what a result might mean, how it relates to other work. Always ours, always labelled. {transcript_demo()} ## Rules No pay-to-appear No one can buy an appearance, a question or an edit. No appearance fees are paid. Disclosure where it appears Sponsorship, commissioned work, travel costs we covered and any relationship to a Magellan Global company are disclosed in the episode, the show notes and the transcript. Not an endorsement An appearance is not an academic endorsement of a paper, an author or an institution. Accuracy review, not approval Authors check the technical accuracy of the edit. They cannot remove fair questions or their answers. Corrections in the open Errors are corrected in the transcript and show notes, with a dated log at the end. No confidential material We do not ask about unpublished work, work under review or confidential projects. Related parties MTRI researchers help prepare questions and may appear as guests (at most one in twelve). Both are disclosed. AI tools, disclosed We use AI tools for transcription and first-draft summaries; editors check every line before publication. ## Complaints and corrections Write to corrections@meridian.impactio.com with the episode and timestamp. We reply within five working days and publish corrections in the episode’s log. --- # Meridian Pro URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/pro/ Meridian Pro ## Keep up with the field without reading everything. Five sources of revenue, each disclosed, none of which buys an appearance or editorial input. Partners get an audience of researchers, engineers and research leaders; they do not get a say. Contact partnerships Sponsorship --- # Sponsorship URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/partners/sponsorship/ Sponsorship ## Reach the people who build AI. Without touching the content. Sponsors are named where they appear and have no say in guests, questions or the edit. That is what makes the audience worth reaching. Episode partner From US$6,000 per episode A read at the start and end, a line in the show notes and the newsletter. Category exclusivity for that episode. No say in the guest, the questions or the edit. Season partner From US$90,000 per season Twelve episodes, the season page, and naming on Singapore Sessions for the season. The same rule: no editorial input of any kind. Venue desk partner From US$25,000 per conference Supports Meridian's recordings and Notes at one conference. Disclosed on every piece produced there. Singapore Sessions host By arrangement Hosts a public seminar evening for a visiting author. The host is named; the talk is the author's. Indicative launch terms; final terms depend on season length and audience at signing. ## The sponsor agreement says - The sponsor has no right to choose, propose or veto guests, topics, questions or edits. - Sponsor reads are written and read by Meridian and labelled as sponsorship. - A sponsor whose own research appears in an episode is disclosed in that episode, and cannot sponsor it. - Category exclusivity applies to reads only, never to guests: a competitor’s researcher can appear in a sponsored episode. - Meridian can end a sponsorship that breaches these terms, with no refund of the breached part. ## Who listens Meridian is built for researchers, ML engineers, research leaders, students and the technical decision-makers who follow them. Audience figures will be published with the first season; until then, we share pilot data under NDA. Ask for the sponsor pack --- # Talent bridge URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/partners/talent-bridge/ Talent bridge ## Introductions, only when the author asks. Guests on Meridian are some of the most capable researchers of their year. Some want to hear about roles or collaborations; most do not, at least not yet. The talent bridge, run with magellon, Magellan Global’s talent business, makes introductions only for authors who opt in. ## How it works - ## Opt in, separately After release, never before, a guest can choose to join. It is a separate agreement from the guest release, and declining changes nothing about the episode. - ## The author sets the terms What they are open to (roles, collaborations, advisory work), where and when. - ## magellon makes introductions To organisations that match. The organisation pays magellon; the author pays nothing. - ## Disclosed The episode page notes that the guest has joined the talent bridge, if they choose to make that public. ## Walls between the bridge and the show - The talent bridge has no access to the selection process, and selection never considers whether an author might join it. - Organisations using the bridge cannot sponsor an episode featuring a guest they are recruiting. - Guest data stays with Meridian unless the guest opts in. --- # About Impactio Meridian URL: https://meridian.impactio.com/about/ About ## Give scientific ideas, and the people behind them, a wider audience.
